Our Cleaning Method

At Coastal Carpet Cleaning, we use the hot water extraction method to clean your carpets. This method is often confused with steam cleaning. What is the difference, you ask? Well, the primary difference is the temperature of the water. For a carpet to be steam cleaned the water must reach a temperature high enough to transform into gas. Hot water Extraction uses very hot water, but not steam. Both methods apply a cleaning solution to the carpet. Here’s the Big difference …with steam cleaning, there is no rinsing of the fibers, which is necessary to remove soil and cleaning detergents. Also, stains can often get set in to the fibers due to the extreme temperatures with steam cleaning. Hot water extraction, which is recommended by most carpet manufacturers, is superior to steam cleaning because the fibers are thoroughly rinsed with the hot water, which cleans deeply and effectively. The soiled water is then vacuumed out of the carpet, leaving the carpet free of residue and only slightly damp. With the hot water extraction method, your carpets will be cleaner, with no residue, and dry within a few hours.
